Mission of the 500 Block W 150th St Block Association

To promote the safety and general welfare of the block’s residents and greater Harlem community and to preserve and improve the quality of life of our immediate community and strive to increase civic participation.

Unify and Beautify W 150th St Campaign

Sponsored and founded by the 500 Block W 150th St Block, the Unify and Beautify Campaign was formed to build pride and unity on our block of W 150th St in Hamilton Heights in West Harlem through beautification, education and youth outreach.

What are we doing?

Building Community Pride and Unity
Formed the Unify and Beautify W 150th St Project - won numerous grants to beautify our block and unify the residents (Love Your Block, MillionTreesNYC, ChangebyUs Grants)
-Planted flowers, installed tree guards and "keep it clean" signs, trained adults and kids on tree care and encouraged "adopt-a-tree" stewards.

Beautification
Caring for and teaching others how to steward 40 street trees on W 150th St
Clean up days and pet waste awareness.

Safety
Won the Neighborhood grant from Citizens Committee in 2012 to increase safety initiatives (youth workshops, safety workshops, stop and frisk workshops).

Building relationships
Strengthening our relationships with local police precinct and neighborhood institutions- church, businesses, schools, other BAs
Pool the talents and resources of our residents for mutual social and economic benefits

Youth Outreach
Youth Activities and support - we are always looking for ways to engage our youth on our block with resources and guidance.

Block Party and other organized Events
Yearly Block Party, Thanksgiving Family Dinner, Kids Holiday Craft Parties, Halloween in the Garden, Block Meet and Greet mixers and more!

Fundraising for all our events 
Sample Sales, Bake Sales, Raffles, donations from building management and owners, fish fry, continued grant applications.  We are always looking for new ways to fundraise.  Bring your ideas!
